Taste of the Himalayas
This holiday exceeded expectations. Everything was organised really well. We didn't have to worry about anything - just enjoy the holiday. The hotels were really comfortable and most had beautiful gardens and/or stunning views of the mountains. Both guides were so professional, knowledgeable and lots of fun. Loved the contrast between the two countries. The flight into Bhutan with views of Everest were phenomenal and the beauty, nature and scenery of both countries is something we will always remember. Thank you Mountain Kingdom for giving us the trip of a lifetime although we will probably go back!!
Luxury Lodges to AMA Dablam B.C.
Excellent trek, best in 20yrs of trekking. A really great guide and team.
An Excellent Holiday
A wonderful trip seeing many sights and scenery that you probably wouldn’t see if you arranged the trip yourself. It was very comforting to be staying in such beautiful places knowing you were safely being looked after. Well done Mountain Kingdoms.
Wonderful trek that we will remember forever
We booked the ABC luxury lodges - a private tour. On day 3 it became apparent that the area was at risk to avalanches and we were advised to change our trek. We were happy to do this and take our guide's advice, so we ventured to another area - unfortunately due to ice on the ridge we again had to make a decision to re think our plans. We agreed that we would like to see more of the villages, Nepal way of life, so we ventured lower - some quite tough walking still, but through forests and villages. The original plan went our the window but we had an amazing, wonderful trip. Our guide's knowledge meant we saw ladies making butter from the Water Buffalo milk, we tasted Millet Liquor, we rescued a tired Buffalo, held baby goats, chatted to locals and children, and saw the most spectacular scenery both mountainous and farming and village life. - Absolutely wonderful
One of the best things I’ve experienced.
Trekking in the Langtang Valley was undoubtedly one of the best things I’ve experienced. I followed the trail along the valley to Kyanjin Gompa where the views were truly incredible. Each night I stopped in simple tea houses and received the warmest of welcomes from the lovely local people, as well as some very tasty dal bhat. It felt good to be supporting the communities who had lost so much in the 2015 earthquake but have done wonders in rebuilding their homes and reopening the trails. Now they just need trekkers to return to help restore their livelihood. I encourage anyone to go and experience Langtang for themselves, you won’t be disappointed.
Well thought out itinerary
The trip was absolutely fantastic! One of the best holidays I have ever been on. We had a fantastic and competent guide and the support staff were very personable as well. The itinerary was varied which was fantastic and there were a number of nice surprises like visiting the underwater cave, the aqua hiking which provided much hilarity as we had never heard or experienced such a thing. Loved the pace of the trip, loved the country, loved the staff, and the other members of the group. Special mention also goes to my driver who took us to visit his home which was very special. Top marks!
Sri Lanka 2019
Honestly, they never fail to amaze me with the amount of activities they can tie into one trip! Its hard to write all the amazing things that I experienced into one small review but all I can say if you're thinking about going to Sri Lanka this tour is for you! Hotels were stunning! One even had two floors to it!! Practically an apartment by my opinion! All the people in Sri Lanka are absolutely lovely and the amount of monuments and temples you will be able to see will amaze you! Nothing but gorgeous scenery and delicious smelling food! Only downside is I didn't bring enough bug spray! Couldn't recommend it enough either way!
Pyrenean paradise
The perfect get away for a long weekend. The amazing views, walks, food, and hospitality blew me away. This is a country ready to introduce itself as a Pyrenean paradise to the world.
Gentle Walking Ecuador & Galapagos Safari
The organisation was brilliant from start to finish. As a solo traveler I felt very safe and well looked after while in Ecuador, the guide spoke perfect English and was very professional and made my trip most enjoyable.
Great Variety
A little off the beaten track but West Bengal and Assam were wonderful varied destinations, Kolkata was vibrant and steeped in colonial history and the Grand Oberoi a superb hotel to return to at the end of the day, we had 2 extra days there, I'd recommend at least one extra, it's a big city with lots to see. Darjeeling and Kalimpong a different world of tea plantations, toy trains and spectacular views of the Himalayas. The Windamere is an attraction on its own, coal fires in the bedroom and hot water bottles at night and a 1930's dining room serving excellent Indian food. By contrast the Brahmaputra wound languidly across the plains of Assam, some would describe the landscape as featureless but the scale and light made it hypnotically beautiful from the top deck of the lovely MV Mahabaahu. The riverboat was spacious and comfortable with lovely cabins and a crew who literally could not do enough. The daytrips were excellent with the highlight being the magnificent rhino at Kaziranga, an unforgettable experience. All in all a really excellent varied trip to a little visited part of India.
Cultural Tour Sri Lanka
An enjoyable group tour well worth the journey to reach Jaffna and the Palk Strait Islands in the far north, and Trincomalee on the east coast. There were some long drives to the central World Heritage sights and Galle. There was a nice mix of temples, wildlife and colonial experience. The hotels were excellent and up-market, but tended to be somewhat isolated from nearby towns and Sri Lankans.
Such a great trip!
Trekking along the rugged cliffs and beautiful beaches of the Atlantic Ocean was visually stunning and camel riding among the sand dunes was a memorable treat! Hussein was a fantastic guide, one of the best, and his organisational skills, knowledge and charm greatly enhanced our adventure. I enjoyed the company of our small but select group and I thought we slipped into a very comfortable team. Trekking with Mountain kingdoms is always a pleasure and a privilege.
Relaxed & calm.....peaceful adventure
Good choice
Bhutan
An amazing experience. We were well looked after. The guide was excellent
Wonderful Experience
This trip is perfect if you want to experience the Bhutanese culture. There are lots of visits to Buddhist temples, walks through villages and towns, and the Punakha festival was a feast for the eyes, with everyone dressed in their best. The food in Bhutan is not particularly exciting, so not a trip for ‘foodies’. The hotels were mixed, which I did not mind, but one was very cold, and one was changed after the first night. If this would bother you, consider paying for higher grade hotels. If you are a nervous passenger be aware that mountain roads have few crash barriers and steep drops, but our driver was amazing and I never felt unsafe. The climb to Tigers Nest Monastery on the last day was a wonderful finale. The guide was excellent. There was only 6 people on the trip, and we all got on very well.
Outstanding food on trek
We had a competent and knowledgeable guide whom I could trust, particularly on the trek. The trek food was outstanding.
Druk Path Trek - Bhutan
I enjoyed the whole experience, the detailed knowledge of the guide and his enthusiasm.
Bhutan is Fabulous
Everything went smoothly on the trip as far as we were concerned. The trip leader dealt very well with different walking abilities and different approaches to trekking - some wanting to race and others wanting to walk slowly to appreciate the fabulous scenery. A delay of several hours to the flight from Paro to Kathmandu was turned into an advantage by the trip leader who organised a visit to a wonderful local Dzong under restoration and a weaving shop. Bhutan is fabulous. We cannot imagine anyone not wanting to return.
Druk Path Trek
This trip is about at my limit of endurance/fitness. Nevertheless I enjoyed it very much and have some amazing photographs as a result. The quality of information from MK is very good. There was also quality in the hotels we used, and the staff were excellent. I would particularly like to thank the team supporting us on the trek as they did a magnificent job in managed the very different levels of fitness / walking speeds in the group.
We loved our time exploring mysterious eastern Bhutan.
The beautiful unspoilt valleys are home to unspoilt cultural treasures, there is a tale or legend to be told in every village, and best of all, we had it all to ourselves! Go now, before Lonely Planet make it a must visit destination!
