Bhutan: people and scenery

The scenery was fabulous - and the people, wonderful

Rajasthan in Style

A well organised tour or Rajasthan

A good mix of heritage and luxury hotels. Covered all the top attractions. Well organised.

Annapurna Sanctuary

Experience of a lifetime

This has been an experience that I may never better. From day one I felt at ease with the preparations building up to the trek and I was not let down throughout. The sights that I witnessed were breath-taking and extraordinary and will never be forgotten. The guide offered encouragement during the many climbs, his joy at seeing a sense of achievement, as well giving his insights and knowledge of the area willingly. I implore you to do this trek, you will not be disappointed.

Manaslu Circuit

Beyond my wildest dreams

This trip was beyond all my wildest dreams. I have not been back to The Himalayas for 30 years and it seems very difficult for me to find the right words to summarize the many layers of wonderfulness! The enormity and huge variety of the landscapes, the deep history, the many religions, the incredible Nepalese and Tibetans who live in such harsh demanding places. We had a truly exceptional local team who made the magic happen. I am so so grateful.

Gentle Walking Eastern Bhutan

Bhutan's unique charm

It was my 6th time in Bhutan, over 33 years, and my third time in East Bhutan. It was fantastic to see how the country has developed, particularly with good roads and hotels, but kept its essential rural charm, social structure and uniqueness. I particularly wanted to have several days in the Lhuentse Valley in East Bhutan, which is another world of charm and remoteness. Also, the 2 hour walk down from the Ura La to Ura Village must be one of the best short walks in the Himalayas.

Hidden Valleys of Bhutan

Stunning views

I enjoyed the remoteness, scenery, stunning views of the mountains & visiting the many Dzongs.

Annapurna Sanctuary

Awesome Annapurna Sanctuary

Everything about this trip was awesome. When we arrived at Annapurna Base Camp it was snowing and the snow continued all day. The next morning dawned cold and clear with the most breathtaking views. Thanks to Mountain Kingdoms for such a well organized trip and to our guide Sun and our porter for such a fantastic job.

Bhutan - lots to love

I loved the scenery, mountains, mountain passes and fabulous descents. The monasteries, temples and Dzongs.

Perfect tour of Bhutan

An absolutely perfect tour! As the only German present I met four lovely people from the UK, a wonderful and expert Bhutanese guide and Michael Rutland, who enriched the tour by telling us a lot about his long-lasting experiences with and in that beautiful country. The tour itself was well-designed and we usually had enough time to take in and then "digest" the multi-coloured experiences we had every day. Accomodation and food were absolutely satisfactory.

Fascinating destination

Bhutan remains a fascinating and unique destination, and it was a privilege to travel to the east as well as revisit some of the western highlights

Manaslu Circuit

Manaslu Circuit - thoroughly recommended!

A fantastic trip. Our guide and Sherpas had everything well organized and made the experience both fun and greatly contributed to our knowledge of mountain life. The porters were amazing. The lack of roads in the valley highlights the remoteness, and the scenery fabulous. The tea houses were a good standard, the food tasty and plentiful. All transport was great fun. The team could not have done more to make it go well. The trek grading is correct, and I would thoroughly recommend it.

Definitive Cultural Tour of Nepal

A varied tour of Nepal

Visited really lovely varied, interesting locations. Very well organised.

Definitive Cultural Tour of Bhutan

Wonderful tour of Bhutan

A wonderful holiday discovering the remarkable features of Bhutan: scenery, architecture, national dress and Buddhist customs and traditions. The Bhutanese are friendly and gentle people who added a lot to our overall experience. We enjoyed expert and knowledgeable guiding both from local guide, Tshering and from Michael Rutland whose experiences of Bhutan over 50 years are unique. We were privileged to be invited to his home for a special evening watching the film "A Yak in the Classroom".

Manaslu Circuit

Spectacular Manaslu

Spectacular and diverse scenery, fascinating Tibetan culture, superbly led. And great food throughout!

Manaslu Circuit

Fabulous Manaslu trek

Fabulous trek with the most stunning views, interesting unspoilt Nepalese villages, friendly group of people. Informative guides, huge diversity of landscapes, floura & fauna.

Mount Toubkal Ascent, 4,167m/13,671ft

Wonderful trek in Atlas mountains

For various, unpredictable reasons I ended up going on this trek alone. However, I still had an excellent, English speaking guide, a wonderful cook, 2 muleteers and 2 mules all looking after me! I was very well looked after and had a great time. The food was fantastic, especially considering the basic cooking arrangements. The terrain is very dry and arid but the scenery is quite striking and the night sky is wonderful. Don't expect anything other than very basic (squat toilet) or non-existent toilet facilities and you do have to be careful with water hygiene. I had no problems and I was provided with hot water and liquid soap at every meal time and filtered all my drinking water. All in all a great trek that was very well organised and enjoyable.

Fantastic Hidden Valleys of Bhutan

A fantastic way to explore Bhutan. We got a real insight into Bhutanese life by staying in the homesteads and attending the local festival.

Gentle Walking Eastern Bhutan

Beautiful Eastern Bhutan

Nice to be back in Bhutan, this time gently discovering beautiful east. Amazing nature, slow-paced life, tradition, nice food. With the favourable weather that we had, just a perfect holiday.

Rajasthan in Style

Rajasthan mix

We really liked the mix of culture and nature and to see the life of people in the villages.
